How to refresh selected (not all) tables in Power BI Desktop
When working with Power BI datasets I often want to refresh multiple tables, BUT not all the tables in my model. (This often happens when I made a change to underlying data sources and I want to make sure it is working as expected in Power BI Desktop)
I recently found that I could do it by doing the following steps below.
- The first thing I did was I sent into the Model view
-
In my example I wanted to refresh only the following tables
- Date
- Employee
- Period
- Stock Item
-
I selected the multiple tables by holding down the CTRL button and selecting the tables
-
I then right clicked and selected Refresh data
-
It then went and ONLY refreshed the tables I selected
- I could then see my selected tables had been refreshed.
Summary

Great tip. You can also refresh tables one-by-one in the Report view by right-clicking on the table name in the Fields pane, then selecting Refresh Data.
Amazing!
